The construction of a Mini-Pitch system on the Wilson playground began today with the removal of asphalt. The area will be prepped and concrete will be poured in mid-April. Installation will take place late spring/early summer.
Mini-Pitches are artificial turf or hard surfaces surrounded by a rebound board system with integrated goals that keep the ball constantly in play. Mini-Pitches open up greater access to soccer, more ball contact, more decisions, more goals, creating a faster, more intensive experience than on a regular field. The system allows soccer to be played in a smaller area. Built-in lighting systems extend the hours of play.
"As an organization working to make soccer everyone’s game, we’re always looking to innovate and create Safe Places to Play that bring kids and communities together. That’s why we created a new, state-of-the-art mini-pitch system with Musco Lighting that is designed to provide access to the sport and increase the amount of time kids and adults can play the beautiful game."
