March Madness Promotes Future Planning

Wilson is celebrating March Madness by encouraging students to think about their future.

“Aim for Your Future” is centered on making future plans, including college. Every teacher decorated classroom doors with the college they attended. “We hope students begin thinking about life after high school,” said Patricia Mulholland, a fifth grade teacher at Wilson. “It’s important to start at an early age and expose them to more opportunities.”

She believes all students have a super power and can be anything they want to be. “We are helping students set goals and then showing them how to achieve them.”

The activity links to the district’s core belief that all students can learn at high levels. The school counselor is also using the theme in her March lessons. Upper elementary students will take an interest inventory and look at what jobs align with their interests.

“We are making dreams come true at Wilson,” said Mullholland.
