Inventors Needed for Upcoming Invention Convention

Invention Convention

Attention all inventors!  The local Invention Convention will be held Tuesday, January 26 as a virtual competition/event from 5:30-8 p.m.  Any Ottumwa Community School District student in grades K-8 is invited to participate in the convention. Those participating must create a simple, working invention and tri-fold poster, along with students in grades 3-8 will be required to create an inventor’s log documenting their work.

If you are interested in participating, forms are in your school office for you to pick up. There is a rules sheet, a tips sheet, inventor’s log, and entry form for you to pick up, if you are interested in participating in the competition. A flyer has also been sent home with students to remind families about the upcoming event.

Do you want to win a FREE summer STEM camp scholarship for participating?  Any child in grades K-5 who signs up for the Invention Convention competition AND attends the competition virtually that evening with all of the necessary requirements (for grades K-2: a poster and invention; for grades 3-8: a poster, inventor's log, and invention) will have their name put in to win one of TWO FREE scholarship to a summer STEM camp in partnership with the Ottumwa CSD and Camp Invention ($235 value). Camp Invention will be held at Evans Middle School from June 21-25, 2021 (9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day). More information about this camp can be found at: https://www.invent.org/programs/camp-invention.
