Wilson's playground installation and paint party, scheduled for Monday, July 8 has been postponed due to discoveries made during the initial site preparations. After pulling out the old play structure, district maintenance staff have determined that there will be significant work that needed to prepare the site for the new equipment. The area will have to be excavated and new base brought in and compacted before any holes can be bored into it.
Funds from a Keurig Dr Pepper and KaBOOM! grant, as well as the Wellmark Foundation, are supporting the purchase of two new slides. Remaining funds raised for a new playground have been deposited into a playground account for use when a final decision is made on whether to remodel Wilson or build a new school.
