Holiday Vocal Concert for Grades 5-8

The Ottumwa Community Schools Fine Arts Department will host their Holiday Choir Concert for students in grades 5-8 on Thursday, December 15 at 7 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School auditorium.

Selections for fifth and sixth grade honor choirs include “Like Diamonds in the Night,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and “Lullaby on Broadway.”

Orchestra director, Angela McDonald, will be a guest soloist for the seventh grade choir selection, “Christmas is a Feeling.” They will also perform “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” and “Have a Merry One!”

The eighth grade selections will include “Carol of the Bells” and “Hot Chocolate!”  Ninth grader, Mekayla Simmons, will be featured in a lyrical dance solo with the choir on "Snow is Falling."  Simmons is a former Evans choir member and studies dance at Dance, Inc.


The combined choirs will open and close the concert with “We Need a Little Christmas” and “Silent Night.” The audience will be invited to join in during the third verse of “Silent Night.”

Directors include Felicia Dighton, fifth grade honor choir; Tom Shadonix, sixth grade honor choir; Pam De Boer, seventh and eighth grade choirs; and Judy Burnstedt, accompanist.
