Ottumwa students, start those creative juices flowing!

District students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade may enter inventions for the upcoming Ottumwa Invention Convention.  The annual event, hosted by the district’s Talented and Gifted department, will be held Tuesday, January 28 from 5:45 - 8 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School cafeteria.  The snow date for this event is Thursday, January 30.  Judging will take place from 6 - 7 p.m. The public is invited to view the inventions from 7 - 7:30 p.m.  An awards presentation will follow with the winning inventors being presented with medals, sponsored by John Deere Ottumwa Works.

Entry forms are available in each school office.  Students must return the forms by Wednesday, January 22.  Questions should be directed to the Invention Convention Coordinator, Breanna Hinmon, at Liberty Elementary (641-682-4502).

Judges will interview the student inventors and provide feedback about their inventions. All students will have the opportunity to advance to the state level competition through the University of Iowa’s Belin-Blank Center.
