Ottumwa Community Schools will have the first day of Kindergarten over a two-day period – half the students on the first day and the other half of the students on the second day. All kindergarten parents will receive a letter indicating which day their child will attend (either August 26 or 27) and then begin full-time on Friday, August 28.
Parents and students will meet with teachers on the first day from 9-10 a.m. The meeting provides important information about kindergarten expectations, routines, etc. Teachers will also make note of transportation plans to and from school for your child. Depending on the number of students who attend, your student may or may not have the teacher that you meet with on this first day of school. Students will remain in class until 2 p.m.
