Student Inventors Wanted

Kindergarten through 8th grade students from the Ottumwa Community School District, Seton Catholic, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School District are invited to enter inventions for the upcoming Ottumwa Invention Convention. The annual event, hosted by the Ottumwa school district’s Talented and Gifted department, will be held on Thursday, February 4, from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School cafeteria. The snow date for this event is Tuesday, February 9, same time and place. Students and families can enter the cafeteria starting at 5:30 p.m. to set up for the event. Scheduled judging interviews will take place from 6–7 p.m., with the public invited to view the inventions from 7-7:30 p.m.  An awards presentation will follow in the auditorium, with the winning inventors being presented with medals, sponsored by John Deere Ottumwa Works.

Entry forms are available in each school office and students must return them by Wednesday, January 27 to participate in the event.  Questions should be directed to the Invention Convention Coordinator Breanna Hinmon at Liberty Elementary (641-682-4502).
