Over 30 elementary archers competed on Wednesday at Liberty Elementary in Ottumwa's first archery event. The event targeted representatives from Liberty, Eisenhower, James, and Horace Mann. Students shot five practice shots prior to the competition shoot.
This is Ottumwa's first year participating in the Archery in the Schools program. Teachers were trained last fall and have been incorporating the two-week unit into the elementary and middle school PE curriculum. Future goals include club opportunities and additional events for students to participate in.
