Mark Van Essen, a local bee keeper, came to the two first grade classes and taught students about bees and the art of honey making. Van Essen learned how to be a bee keeper at the young age of 11. His wife, Pam, also helps with the bees and even sells to local friends and family. Students got a chance to try this delicious 100% organic honey. All the students loved the honey! Students also learned how the bees work together to make honey and how intelligent bees are. Thanks to Mark and Pam for this special lesson. The kids really enjoyed learning all about bees and getting to try it was a real treat!
