Every group completed their mission of building a tower that is over 9 inches tall and can withstand the weight of a stuffed animal. The scenario: NASA is hoping to create a pedestal or tower to hold a sculpture of a very special astronaut. Students used the engineering design process to design and test their tower. All students did amazingly well working as a team and were happy that the other team also passed their mission! Teresa, Ashley and Gissellen are pictured here demonstrating that their tower could hold the weight of the stuffed animal for 10 seconds. Students will continue to use the engineering design process and work with their team to specialize in a space area. So far, all students are divided into groups of 4-5 and will focus on gravity, constellations, planets, space & our solar system, space exploration, the moon and the sun. Students will research the topic and will then create a PowerPoint presentation that they will present to their fellow engineers.
