James offers free math tutoring every Monday and Tuesday. This gives kids a chance to get extra help and get ahead in their math skills. Students that signed up for tutoring receive lessons/games and activities that their teacher has indicated the students need the most help in. Students will focus on that area until they have mastered it and then will be given a new challenge. Parents are already commenting how their child is "excited" about math and can't wait to go to their tutoring sessions. Students get to do their homework and assistance is given as needed. They get a snack when they are working on their math. Then, they are teamed up with their tutor and receive their folder. The folder contains games/ lessons and activities the student will work on that day. We currently have 5 high school volunteers and two peer volunteers. We appreciate both our tutors for their help, the parents for their commitment to the program and our students who are displaying our Bulldog Beliefs by being responsible citizens!
