Heroes Share their Story

Proud of their accomplishments, the Horace Mann Heroes shared how they are making their school and community a better place at Monday’s school board meeting.

Three students, Jonathan Miller, Mahayla Hager, and Maleah Campbell shared their efforts of showing compassion to new students, donating food to a local food pantry, sending letters to families in Puerto Rico, and placing kindness rocks around the school sign with messages of encouragement with the Ottumwa Board of Education.

To be a Hero, students only need a willingness to help. The group recently sponsored a Spirit Week and collected donations for Heartland Humane Society.

Horace Mann Heroes for this semester include:  Isabella Hoffman, Grady McDonough, Paloma Baeza, Ayven Reinier, Mahayla Hager, Adelaide Rodeffer, Ava Hutton, Landon Causey, Hunter Caldwell, Violet McFarlin, Parker Weichman, and Cami Pauls.
