Douma Families:
There has been an update to the Elementary Handbook regarding treats brought to school. It now states:
“All treats and snacks that come to school must be commercially prepared and individually packaged to ensure proper sanitation.”
This includes birthday and school party treats. Treats such as a tray of cupcakes from Walmart or Hyvee meet the new handbook criteria but cupcakes that are not made in a commerical kitchen, such as home-made, do not meet the new criteria. Often families like to create a treat bag for a school party. As long as all food items in the bag are commercially prepared and individually packaged (such as a mini bag of M&Ms, a mini Snickers, etc.) treat bags meet the new handbook criteria.
