For the next few weeks, our Bulldogs of the Week will focus on several of our 2022 retirees. This week, we highlight Scott Maas, Deb Pilcher, and Alan Pilcher. Congratulations on your retirement!
Scott Maas - Scott has worked for Ottumwa Schools for 20 years, 15 as an Associate Principal at OHS and the past five as Activities Director. Maas enjoys working with the coaches and athletes and has fond memories of coaching both boys and girls golf. "I've been involved in athletics all my life," he said. He has enjoyed his years at OHS and is looking forward to retirement.
Deb Pilcher - For the past 34 years, Deb has worked in the administrative offices for the district and has served as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for the past 20. "I've loved it," she said. "I've met so many amazing people. Everyday is different." Her children and now two grandchildren currently attend Ottumwa Schools and she enjoys that connection. "I'm definitely going to miss coming to work everyday at the district office," she said.
Alan Pilcher - Alan has served three school buildings as a custodian over his 31 years with Ottumwa Schools. He enjoys interacting with the students and staff each day and has a lof of great memories. You become a family working in a school building. "It feels like I just started yesterday and now it's 31 years later," he said. "I've enjoyed coming to work everyday. It's been a good life experience for me."
