Bulldogs of the Week - Focus on Counseling

logo

This week, we recognize the efforts of our school counselors. National School Counseling Week 2022 is February 7-11. This week puts public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. The week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

In Ottumwa, part of our effort to Be The Best includes having counselors in every K-12 school. These 12 individuals strive to build relationships with our students, assist them in developing social/emotional skills, provide career guidance, and work with students individually and in groups.

Counselors include:

  • Ottumwa High School:  Abby Brain, Morgan Donavan, Taryn Mottet and Brenda Stevens
  • Evans Middle School:  Jessica Dawdy and Megan Wetrich
  • Elementary:    Cindy Schlegel (Douma), Emily Walker (Eisenhower), Shellie Stevens, (Horace Mann), Jim Schlarbaum (James), Sydney Schneckloth and Holly VanDeKieft (Liberty) and Eric Gross (Wilson).

Thanks for everything you do to help our students be the best they can be!
