Coaches Honored During Homecoming

Tom and Dave

Dave Clement and Tom Kopatich

It was a Homecoming to remember at Schafer Stadium Friday night. Not only did the Bulldogs win their game but two legendary coaches were honored.

Prior to the start of the varsity game, the district dedicated the fieldhouse in honor of Dave Clement and the field in honor of Tom Kopatich. A video highlighting each coach was shown and each received a plaque, presented by Superintendent Mike McGrory on behalf of the Board of Education.

Clement was a physical education teacher from 1975 to 1979 and the district's Athletic Director until 2010. He served as the OHS head football coach from 1975-1990, then as an assistant coach until 2012. His coaching career at OHS spanned  nearly 40 years.

Kopatich was head football coach for 19 years, the longest in OHS history. His career record is 125/61, took his team to state 10 times, and competed in the quarter finals three times.

A dedication banquet was held prior to the football game, with a reception immediately following.
