Kim Stevens
Kim attended Fox Valley Schools (Milton and Cantril were consolidated) K-12, NMSU in Kirksville for three years, and finished her BS at Mankato, MN (Physical Education and Science degrees). She later earned her Masters at Morningside University.
She began substitute teaching in the Ottumwa School system around 1987.  She wanted to stay home and raise a family.  Did 2 long term sub positions during those years. She then taught at the Ottumwa Christian School for 4 years before returning to OCSD as a 7th grade science teacher at Evans in 2000.

Career Highlights

  • Been in the same room – #218 - for every year except one year when EMS was being remodeled.  Best room in the building.
  • Sold Lolli-pops to pay for bus fuel – our team took students snow skiing in Montezuma and to Camp Dodge several years.
  • I began and am ending my tenure on the same team with a co-worker – Jessica Bogdan-Short.  We have been on the same team every year but one.   Uncommon with so much turn over.
  • I’ve had several students that I now have their children in class.

She is married to Mark Stevens (OHS alumni) and has 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.
