Prom Boutique Free to OHS Students

Prom is more than just a high school tradition this year. It's also the first school dance since Homecoming 2019 due to the pandemic.

Unfortunately for many students, the prom tradition comes with a cost. To help offset this, iJag and the Teen Outreach Program teamed up to host a Prom Boutique on Friday, April 23 from 12:50-3 p.m. in room 132 (PE hallway). Prom dresses, shoes, suits, and accessories be found at the boutique. All items are free to keep. "I think this is a great idea," said OHS junior Nicolete Ware, who is part of the team involved in planning the boutique. "It not only promote's the high school's Clothing Closet but also helps students who might not have the funds for the clothing they need to attend."

"Many students won't go to prom if they don't have the right clothes," said Joanna Smith, a 10th grader.

Right now the group has over 100 dresses to choose from, thanks in part to a large donation from My Chic Boutique two years ago. They also have a good selection of shoes. A steamer will be available to ensure clothing is pressed and ready for that special night.

"We're hoping to do this every year," said Teen Outreach sponsor, Kolby Streeby. The group is still accepting donations of dresses, shoes, suits, etc. Drop off donations inside the Fourth St. entrance or contact [email protected] for pick up.
