This week, five Ottumwa staff members were presented Employee of the Month awards. These staff members were nominated by a student, parent, or fellow staff member for continually going above and beyond for our students, staff, and families. Each received an Ottumwa gift bag from Superintendent Mike McGrory featuring a variety of OCSD promotional items.
The Employees of the Month for November include: Melissa Hougland, special education teacher at Liberty; Staci Jenks, OHS math teacher; Yadira Kelderman, ELL teacher at Evans; Sarah Lee, preschool teacher at Pickwick; and Alan Pilcher, custodian at James.
These staff members will be recognized by the Ottumwa Board of Education at our next meeting on Monday, November 23. The recognition will be done at the beginning of the meeting. Family members, co-workers, and community members are encouraged to attend to show their support and appreciation of these employees. “Ottumwa students and parents are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals serving our youth,” said McGrory. “Each and every staff member is vital to our mission and I appreciate the efforts of our staff, especially this fall as we continue to deal with a worldwide pandemic. They are truly the backbone of our success.”
