Tuesday morning, I surprised five Ottumwa staff members when I showed up in their classroom or office to let them know they had been selected as an October Employee of the Month. Each received an Ottumwa gift bag featuring a variety of OCSD promotional items. These staff members were truly honored that they had been nominated by a student, parent, or fellow staff member for continually going above and beyond for our students, staff, and families.
The Employees of the Month for October include: Allison Adams, fifth grade teacher at James; Kelci Eakins, guidance counselor at OHS; Stephanie Hart, associate at Horace Mann; Salud Leyva, secretary at Wilson; and Anna Wilke, language arts teacher at Evans Middle School.
These staff members will be recognized by the Ottumwa Board of Education at our next meeting on Monday, October 26. The recognition will be done at the beginning of the meeting. I hope family, co-workers, and community members can attend to show their support and appreciation to these employees. If you can’t attend, please reach out to these outstanding employees and congratulate them. I plan to be in buildings as often as possible, meeting staff, talking with students, and observing classroom instruction and programs. Ottumwa students and parents are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals serving our youth. Each and every staff member is vital to our mission. I appreciate the efforts of Ottumwa staff everyday for our students and parents.”
Thank you!
