Summer Feeding Program Continues in July

The Summer Feeding Program continues to provide meals to the youth of Ottumwa. Children ages 2-18 are eligible to participate in this program. Breakfast and lunch for two days are available for pick-up Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 locations throughout Ottumwa.

These free meals are made possible through funding from the Summer Feeding Program, an Iowa Department of Education initiative. Several local businesses also donate to the program, including JBS and Yesway.

Volunteers are the backbone of the program and still play a critical role in packing and distributing meals to youth throughout the summer. These volunteers work Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays to make this program possible. Volunteers interested in helping can contact [email protected].

Ten Ottumwa locations continue to provide a grab and go option for children ages 2-18. Distribution sites are open for approximately 10 minutes at each location, with the exception of Ottumwa High School, which will have meals available for one hour. All volunteers practice social distancing and wear facemasks to further protect our community members.

Students can walk to the location closest to their home or can arrive by car.
