NCCS receives Security Grant

The State of Ohio has just released a new round of funding for school buildings, and this time the North Canton City Schools is a major recipient. All totaled, the district will receive over $249,000 in funds to help students at all levels K-12.

The district, with the help of the North Canton Police Department, completed a vulnerability assessment of the district's buildings last fall. That information was used to submit the grant with specific requests to improve safety for the students and staff. The state used a scoring rubric to determine which requests would result in the greatest improvement in school security.

The district was able to receive funding for the four elementary schools because the funds are earmarked for a safety system that will be able to be used this year and continue to be used in the future at the new buildings.

The main expenses for Hoover High School and the North Canton Middle School focus on improvements to the security camera monitoring system.
