This May, Nooksack Valley High School had six teams travel to the 94th WA State FFA Convention in Pullman. These hardworking students represented the Valley with pride.
The following teams make it to state level competition.
• Two First Year Member Teams coached by Kathleen Chadwick. Members included Gracee Rodriguez, Maicy Hammond, Max Lautenbach, Trevek McMillen, Kade Mitchell, Rhyce Swaffield and Grady Hoekema.
• Milk Quality and Products team members included Tana Hoekema, Jaclyn Newhouse, Jake Lautenbach and Elizabeth DeLange.
• Food Science Team members included Shelby Mason, Alayna Dykstra, MaKenzie Likkel, Cameron O’Bryan and Trevan Brisky.
• Parliamentary Procedure Team members included Naomi Hjort, Kennedy Brown, Avery Juergens, Kaden Visser, Weston Silves and Hawley Zylstra.
• The Marketing Plan team worked diligently with Alluvial Farms this year to prepare a professional marketing plan and placed second in state as an all-sophomore team. Team members included Payton Bartl, Avery Juergens and Gracie Rutgers.
• The state livestock judging team placed third in state the previous week and was recently selected to compete at nationals in October. This team was coached by Whitnee Denson and Trent VanDyken. Team members include Tana Hoekema, Avery Juergens, Jaclyn Newhouse, Will Lowe, Rhyce Swaffield, and Brade Kooiman.
