Virtual High School
-
Enrollment Closed: the virtual high school option is closed for the 2023-2024 school year. More information will be posted in the Spring for 2024-2025 enrollment.
Beginning in the fall of 2023, students in grades 9-12 have the option of enrolling in the virtual high school through Graduation Alliance. Watch the informational webinar at the bottom of this page for details. Closed captioning in English and additional languages can be found in the YouTube player settings.
What will virtual high school schedule look like?
The program will differ from the Mukilteo Virtual Academy which is ending at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
Students take only a couple of classes at a time to increase focus on those subjects. As they complete those credits, students will take on the next couple of classes. They will earn six credits if the assigned classes are completed.
The school hours are more flexible than a traditional school day. High school students enrolled in the virtual program are able, where possible, to take an additional in-person elective class at their home school outside of their virtual class schedule. Students may also participate in after-school activities and athletics at their home school.
Is virtual learning right for my child?
Students who are most successful in a virtual learning environment exhibit the following skills and abilities. Students do not need to meet all the outlined skills and abilities listed below to enroll in the virtual high school, but consistent attendance and progress are required per state guidance:
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrates responsibility for completing assigned work in a timely manner
- Demonstrates consistent attendance
- Self-manages time, needs, learning, and communication
- Self-advocates when clarity or support is needed
What if I want to return to in-person instruction? Do I lose my place at my home school?
The virtual program is a choice school and enrollment in it is a year-long commitment. A student does not lose their place at their home school if they choose to return after the academic year ends.
