  • Cuba is an island.  It is only 90 miles south of Florida.

    Cuba is the biggest island in the Caribbean.

    The capital of Cuba is Havana.

    The bee hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world and it lives in Cuba.

    The most popular sport in Cuba is baseball.

    Cuba had a dictator (a leader that rules by force- bad news!) for over 40 years.  His name was Fidel Castro.

    Many different kinds of snakes live in Cuba, but it is very rare to see a poisonous snake there.

    It has only snowed one time in Cuba and that was in the year 1857!

  •  The Dominican Republic shares an island with the country of Haiti.

    The capital of the Dominican Republic is Santo Domingo.

    The Dominican Republic is the home of the smallest geckos -- the dwarf geckos.

    Punta Cana is a very popular resort for tourists.  The beaches there are beautiful.

    Baseball is the most popular sport in the Dominican Republic.

    Christopher Columbus first landed in the Dominican Republic in 1492 when he came to the New World.

    The Dominican flag is the only flag in the world that has an image of a Bible in its coat of arms.

  • Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean.

    Puerto Rico is not a state, but it is a territory of the United States.

    People in Puerto Rico speak both Spanish and English.

    The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan.  San Juan is a very old city.

    You do not need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico.

    Puerto Rico is tropical and has 270 miles of beaches.

    The "coquí" is a very small frog that can only be found in Puerto Rico.

    José Feliciano is from Puerto Rico.  He is well known for writing and singing the song "Feliz Navidad".
