Bridget Chambers Drummond
Bridget Chambers Drummond served at Bob Jones from 1996-2022. During that time, she has served our Patriots in the role of receptionist, teacher, and coach. Mrs. Drummond taught social studies, was a dance team coach and state championship cheer coach, as well as being instrumental in starting the Peer Helping and the Innovations class at Bob Jones. Mrs. Drummond is known for empowering student leaders. Her mentorship and compassion helped make Bob Jones what it is today.
Mrs. Drummond resides with her husband, Brad, and twin daughters, Brooke and Blaire, in Eva, AL.
Michael Gunner
Michael Gunner began serving our Patriots in 2000 when he was named the BJHS Swim coach. As head coach of the Bob Jones swim program, he won nine boys' and one girls' state championships. In 2007, the Patriots won both the boys' and girls state titles. In 2016, Mr. Gunner was selected as the National High School Boys Swimming Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association. Mr. Gunner retired from coaching after the 2017 swimming season. In 2020, Mr. Gunner was inducted into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame. He continues to serve our Patriots as the Coordinator of Operations for the Madison City Schools.
Mr. Gunner and his wife, Christian, reside in Madison and have three children. Two have graduated from Bob Jones.
Elise Toney Kirkland
Elise Toney Kirkland is a 1975 graduate of Bob Jones. She has been a lifelong resident of Madison and she began working for the city in 1973 while still a student at Bob Jones. In 2007, she was instrumental in starting the Madison Assisted Ride System for disabled residents, which transported individuals to work or medical appointments. In 2020, she retired from the city. Mrs. Kirkland has mentored many Bob Jones students who have been employed by City of Madison Parks and Recreation or who have participated in recreational sports in Madison.
Mrs. Kirkland and her husband Marc reside in Madison. Their two sons James and Brian are also Bob Jones graduates.
Catessa Malone Robinson
Catessa Malone Robinson is a 2006 graduate of Bob Jones and participated on the JV Dance Team, Beta Club, Key Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. Mrs. Robinson graduated cum laude at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management. While she was at UAB, she served as a mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, tutored children at local elementary schools, and volunteered as a patient pal at Children’s Hospital. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law and is currently an in-house attorney at Citibank.
Ms. Malone Robinson resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband, Steven, and their daughter, Samara.
Megan Brown Shumate
Megan Brown Shumate is a 2002 graduate of BJHS. She was active in several clubs and selected to be on the Varsity Dance Team all four years of high school. Her senior year, she served as the co-captain of the Varsity Dance Team, was selected as Ms. Bob Jones, and graduated in the top 10% of her class. In 2006, she graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and graduated in 2018 with a Master’s of Science in Program Management. Mrs. Shumate is currently the Air-to-Ground Missiles Team Lead for DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center’s RAM Engineering and System Assessment Division. She has returned to Bob Jones several times as a guest speaker for the Society of Women Engineers club and the Introduction to Engineering classes. Mrs. Shumate continues to share her love of BJHS and school spirit through community activities and class reunions.
Mrs. Shumate resides in Madison with her husband, Josh and two children, Noah and Logan.
