Ludlow educators seek to ensure assessments are thoughtfully scheduled to ensure students are able to reflect their learning as well as ensure best practices with test administration guidelines.
MCAS ~ The Next-Generation
Initial Release of 2023 MCAS & ACCESS Test Schedule
The Next-Generation MCAS is a computer-based, online assessment that all students are expected to take starting in grade 3-12. The test will include innovative items created to assess the Massachusetts learning standards.
Massachusetts oversees complete oversight of test administration, test content, testing windows, and the reporting of results. For more information about our State's assessment and test administration dates, please click here.

Graduating with a Seal of Biliteracy means that a student has proven fluency in both English and another language. Students can achieve the Seal of Biliteracy or the Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction by meeting the following criteria.
This is a noteworthy distinction for students applying for college or for those entering the workforce. Students interested in achieving the Seal of Biliteracy should consult with the Ludlow High School Department Chair for more information.
EXAMPLES
A student immigrated to the United States from Poland. They are literate in their first language, Polish. In this example, the student can attain the Seal of Biliteracy, when they meet either the MCAS or ACCESS score criteria and complete an approved Polish language assessment and meet the required score indicating that they are also fluent in Polish. The student graduates with a Seal of Biliteracy.
A student born in Springfield, MA to an English speaking family takes Portuguese courses through middle and high school. The student has developed strong literacy skills in both English and Portuguese. The students meets the MCAS score criteria and sits for the AAPPL assessment in Portuguese and passes with a score at the Intermediate-High level . The student graduates with a Seal of Biliteracy.
