Dr. Todd McKee began his appointment as superintendent of Cache County School District on July 1, 2023. He brought with him a background that is rich in education. After earning a degree in history and teaching for two years in alternative schools, he taught for five years in a suburban public high school in Oregon. As a high school teacher, he implemented and coordinated the International Baccalaureate Diploma as a district magnet program.
In 2006, he joined the Beaverton School District in Beaverton, Oregon, as the principal of Sunset High School. During his time there, the school achieved an Outstanding rating from the state Office of Education. In 2011, he moved to the Provo City School District in Provo, Utah, where he served as the principal of Timpview High School for five years. In 2015, US News & World Report selected Timpview High School as the best high school in the state. Both Sunset High School and Timpview High School were recognized under Dr. McKee's leadership for increasing student achievement and enrollment in IB and AP courses. He served as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in the Provo City School District from 2016 to 2023.
In 2009, Dr. McKee completed his doctoral work at the University of Oregon, focusing on the early identification of students at risk of dropping out of high school. This work has allowed him to teach and present to future administrators in a number of university programs, including the University of Oregon, Lewis and Clark College, the University of Utah, and Brigham Young University.
Over the last ten years, Dr. McKee's work has focused on developing multi-tiered systems of support, particularly Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and using formative assessment to support student learning in high school settings.
In his spare time, Dr. McKee is an avid cyclist and college sports fan. He’s looking forward to completing his tenth LOTOJA this fall and cheering on Big Blue. He and his wife, Emalie, have been married for 34 years and are the proud parents of three adult children and a nine-year-old Morkie named Chewie. They are thrilled to be a part of the Cache Valley community.
