Jump Start vs. Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment courses are Glendale Community College courses, that are typically taught on the high school campuses*, and allow high school students to earn both college credit and high school credit for free. *(Note: Due to COVID restrictions and guidelines implemented by GCC, most classes are online and/or remote).
Registration for Fall GCC Jump and Dual Enrollment is open (Classes will fill up quickly, decide now)! Only classes with course numbers taken directly from the Dual Enrollment menu will give you high school credit. Jump Start ONLY gives college credit. You will not receive high school credit for a Jump Start course. Visit the Jump Start website for the digital application and list of course offerings. https://www.glendale.edu/students/student-services/sos-outreach/high-school-students/jump-start. If you need assistance, click the link below for the application steps. You can also visit the GCC Welcome Center Zoom, where GCC counselors are available to help you with your enrollment. GCC will be hosting Jump Start Family Nights where they will review the enrollment process and answer questions (check out the attached flyer for that information). When completing your DocuSign application, DO NOT email it to your counselor! The process is done entirely digitally from GCC’s site. If you have completed the steps correctly, we will automatically receive your application. Counselors will sign them at their earliest convenience. We ask that you do not email us asking if we have received and/or signed your application as it slows down the process. Please note, counselors MUST approve any course that you request to take! 1) We do not approve students to take more than two classes. 2) We do not approve students to take core academic classes: English, math, science, history.
Jump Start courses are Glendale Community College courses, taught on the GCC campus*, that allow high school students to earn college credit for free. They will not replace high school courses or offer high school credit. *(Note: Due to COVID restrictions and guidelines implemented by GCC, most classes are online and/or remote with a few exceptions).
