- What type of Emergency drills do we conduct at Roosevelt?
-Earthquake, Fire, and Lock Down
- How will the school notify parents of an emergency situation?
-A Blackboard Connect callout will be made as soon as possible. Also, please check the written format (email) associated with the callout for any clarification.
- Should parents call the office during an emergency?
-Please avoid calling the office. Office staff will be busy securing the safety of students.
- Should parents go to the school site during an emergency?

- Will students be allowed to use their cell phone during an emergency?
-This will depend on the type of emergency. When and if the administration/staff feels it is safe to call parents, students will be allowed to use their cell phone to communicate a very limited and scripted message to prevent the distribution of misinformation.
- What does a parent need to provide in order to request/pick up their child?
-Parents need some form of identification.
- Will my child be allowed to walk home?
-Students are never allowed to walk home without a parent, or an adult on the emergency card signing them out through the office.
- Can a neighbor/friend pick up my child from school?
-A neighbor or friend may only pick up a child if they are properly identified on the Emergency Card.
- In case of an Earthquake, do you have a family Plan? Contact numbers-Who calls whom? Where do you meet?
-This is a plan you and your family should discuss. Where do family members meet? Who picks up kids? Do kids know who is on the emergency card? Do family members know home evacuation routes?
- At home, do you know where your gas and water shut-off valves are?
-This is important to know as you may need to shut off valves to keep you and your family safe, and decrease the risk of possible property damage through bursting water lines or gas explosions.
- What type of Emergency Supplies should you have prepared or available at home?
-Anything is better than nothing. At a minimum, you should have water, a first aid kit, canned or dried food, flashlights, a battery operated radio, batteries or solar power supply, access to tools like a hammer, a crow-bar, a tarp, tape, etc. Also consider a small emergency kit that you always carry in your car. Same items may be included, but add a pair of latex and leather gloves, sneakers, and a blanket.
