During the 08-9 school year, our school began implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS focuses on creating and sustaining school-wide, classroom, and individual systems of support that improve the educational environment for all children by explicitly teaching behavioral expectations and then recognizing the positive behaviors shown by students.
Our three core values are being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. Students are explicitly taught what it looks like to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe everywhere in our school.
Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times. Grade levels create specific behavior plans to help students monitor their own behavior with expectations and consequences appropriate to that level. Teachers will inform parents and students of the specific details.
Our school uses specific terminology to helps students develop a sense of responsibility for their choices and their actions around our three core values of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
