Mrs. Janae Martin

Hello, my name is Janae Martin and I am so excited to begin my fifth year here at Hickory Ridge!

I was born and raised in beautiful northeast Michigan and graduated from Central Michigan University, FIRE UP CHIPS! While at CMU I majored in secondary social studies education with an emphasis in political science. I also hold a history minor.  In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, walking my dogs Molly and Harper and learning about our nation and our worlds history.

HRHS Open House

  • Please join us on Wednesday August 24th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM for our annual Open House. Students and Parents/Guardians can take a self guided tour of HRHS to find their classes and meet their teachers. I look forward to meeting all of my students.

Mrs. Martin's Fall Semester Schedule

  • 1st Period: American History II

    2nd Period: Holocaust and Genocide

    3rd Period: American History II

    4th Period: Planning

American History II

  • Welcome to American History II! I am excited to have you in my class and I know that we will make the most of our time together. The study of American History II is designed as a survey course and a continuation of the Civics and Economics and American History I curriculum. This course will begin with the Post Civil War/Reconstruction Era  and end with the modern era. This course goes beyond memorization of isolated facts to the development of higher-level thinking skills, encouraging students to make historical assessments, evaluations and discoveries.

Holocaust and Genocide

  • Welcome to Holocaust and Genocide, I am excited to have you in my class and I know that we will make the most of our time together. This class will explore some of the most horrific and difficult events that has ever occurred on earth as well as other events that have shaped the history of our world. The content can be depressing and overwhelming at times because of the horrific nature of the term genocide. Maturity, empathy, and an open mind are essential to success in this course.

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.
