Hello Shasta Families!
Reopening is coming in a few short days and we are getting excited to welcome our 6th – 8th grade students back the week of April 5-9. Families who have selected the Hybrid instructional model will have their student attend either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday from 9:10-12:50. You should have received an email with information about which days your student will be attending. If you have not received this information, please contact the Shasta front office at 541-688-9611.
We wanted to provide you with some information and a few reminders.
Breakfast/Lunch
Students will be able to enter the school starting at 8:40. Between 8:40-9:05, students will be eating breakfast in their classroom. Breakfast is free to all students.
All Bethel middle school students will have a grab-and-go lunch at the end of their day and will not eat lunch on-site. Shasta will continue to be a lunch pick up day on Tuesday and Friday from 12:00 – 1:00.
Schedules
In person, students will run a similar schedule to what they currently are doing in CDL. They will have the same four core classes at Shasta. Elective classes and academic seminar will be online at home.
On their offsite days, students will continue to work on asynchronous assignments and activities in their Google classroom. Teachers will continue to be available to support student learning and answer questions during their afternoon office hours (M/T/TH/F). Click below to preview our Shasta Hybrid Schedules:
Shasta 6th-8th Grade Hybrid Schedules
Shasta students who have selected to stay online will be part of the Bethel Online Academy (BOA), working with teachers from Shasta and Cascade. The BOA schedule will not change, but students may have different teachers and classmates. Also, BOA students will keep their elective classes and/or academic seminar online with their current teacher.
6-8 Transportation
We are in the process of planning bus routes for students in need of transportation. If your middle school student will be riding a bus, First Student will be contacting families this weekend!
6-8 Self-Screening
Based on our newest guidance from the Oregon Department of Education, families may now screen students for Covid-19 symptoms prior to sending them to school. We hope this will help us minimize the time needed for student arrivals in our school buildings. Here is a link to a home screening resource. Please watch for more information on how to use this resource in the weeks ahead.

6-8 Technology
For those students who have borrowed school Chromebooks, we plan to have them continue to use them at home and not bring them onto campus. We will have computers available for in-person learning needs.
6-8 Materials
Your student will not need to bring learning materials to school. We will have a variety of supplies available for students to use in the classroom, including pens and pencils, paper, art supplies and other necessities. These will be provided, stored and sanitized per health & safety guidance. Students are encouraged to bring a clean water bottle and, of course, a mask!
