Week Two–Great Work, MV!
Happy Fist-Bump-Friday, Meadow View! I can’t believe we have just finished week two of Comprehensive Distance Learning. Woohoo! Way to go everyone! We want to thank our amazing parents, step-parents, foster parents, guardians, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, friends and neighbors who have all jumped in to support our students in their new home learning environment. We had exceptional attendance this week. Almost all of our students are attending daily Zoom meetings and accessing assignments. As Seesaw and Google Classroom are getting up and running it has been so heartening to see students and their learning! This is a huge bright spot!
While we are not without a few bumps and tech glitches, we’ve been able to work through most of them and will continue to troubleshoot as we go. Thank you for your patience and partnership and we work together to navigate school from a distance. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out by calling the office at 541-607-9700 or via email.
Take Care,
Erika and Carmen
Bethel’s Nicole Butler 2021 Oregon Teacher of the Year
Congratulations go out to Irving 2nd grade teacher Nicole Butler-Hooton, Oregon’s 2021 Teacher of the Year. Nicole was surprised in a staff Zoom meeting Tuesday, with Governor Kate Brown and Oregon Department of Education Director (and former Bethel superintendent) Colt Gill making an appearance to announce the award.
Nicole is being recognized for what so many of our Clear Lake educators value: a close connection with students, families and the school community while centering equity and cultural competency in teaching. Nicole receives a $5,000 cash award and will represent Oregon for consideration as National Teacher of the Year. Irving also receives a matching $5,000 award. Hooray for Nicole! She is an excellent representative of Bethel educators and is very deserving of this honor. She is the first Bethel educator to receive this award, but not the first who is deserving of the recognition.

Eugene Library Cards Free For All Students
We first shared this news in early September, and now the applications are on their way. All Bethel enrolled students will be eligible for a free Eugene Library card, regardless of whether they live within the City limits.
The Eugene Library Foundation is now mailing an application to the family of every Bethel student. The card will grant access to all the Library’s resources, including its online selections for research, school projects, eBooks, online tutors, and study help. Watch for the application coming to your home. Our school will also have applications available at the front office.
