For the first time in its 19-year history, Kalapuya High School’s graduation was not held at KHS. In order to provide space for COVID physical distancing, Kalapuya’s graduation took place outdoors at Willamette’s Wolverine Stadium.
The celebratory atmosphere and sense of pride were the same. Each of Kalapuya’s 55 graduates was honored individually with special comments by staff members.
Thanks to COVID forcing the event to be held outdoors, students were able to conclude the event by tossing their mortar boards high into the air. It’s something Kalapuya grads could never do during their years of inside ceremonies held at KHS.
