School Calendar Change: No-school days added to 2021-2022 Bethel Calendar

The Bethel School Board at a special meeting Tuesday approved updates to the district’s 2021-2022 school year calendar.

The updated 2021-22 calendar reflects 5-6 additional staff planning and preparation days added throughout the remainder of the school year. These planning and preparation days are no-school days for students and have been implemented around already-established breaks from school. The first additional no-school day is Friday Nov. 12, the day after Veterans Day. A summary of the days are included in the updated board-approved school calendar that can be found here: bit.ly/3EFrwdO.

Bethel Superintendent Kraig Sproles announced the change to Bethel staff and families Tuesday afternoon.

“In an effort to successfully serve all Bethel students and continue to mitigate ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adding additional staff planning and preparation days to the current school year,” he wrote. “These planning days will be no-school days for students.”

This consistent planning and preparation time will allow Bethel district staff to better meet the academic and social-emotional needs of our students in the midst of this pandemic.

We realize that these changes have profound impacts on our families and the decision to alter the calendar was not made lightly. To help support families on these no-school days, a number of resources will be made available to families.

Family Supports on no-school days

  • Meals will be provided to families on these additional no-school days. More information about how families can access these meals will be provided to families directly.
  • Support from Family Navigators: Bethel Family Navigators are connected to community resources including food, clothing, parenting supports, and other resources. Families who would like support from a Bethel Family Navigator are asked to call their student’s school to connect.
  • Mental Health Support from the Bethel Health Clinic. Families can call 541-607-1430 for direct assistance.
  • Vaccination Clinics: The Bethel Health Center will be hosting two COVID-19 vaccine clinics for students age 5 and older on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12. Additional information about the vaccine clinic will be provided directly to families in a follow-up communication.
