Promotion Requirements

Students are expected to achieve passing grades to be promoted to the next grade level. Students must have a 2.0 GPA with no more than one failing grade (“F “ grade) except that a failing grade (“F” grade) may not be in language arts, mathematics, science or history. Students failing to meet this code will not be allowed to participate in the promotion ceremony at the end of their 8^th grade year. In addition to meeting the academic criteria, students must meet the following criteria in order to participate in the end-of-the-year activities:

• All textbooks must be returned

• All library obligations must be met

• Acceptable behavior, with all detentions/Friday night schools served

The Principal may deny the privilege of participating in the promotion ceremony. An eligibility letter, which explains all of this information, is distributed to students and sent home to parents for signatures.
