    A. There are a number of ways to help your child succeed in school. Staying involved, building good habits and helping students become independent problem solvers are all great ways to support your child at school.     Q. How can I call my Child out sick? Can I do this on-line?

    A. You can call our school at 951.358.1640. Currently, we are piloting an online absence reporting portal or you can email our attendance clerk. Please include a contact number in your email messages just in case we need to contact you.

    Q. What do the numbers mean for student grades?

    A. The number scale for elementary grades are written to reflect the progress toward mastery of the California Common Core State Standards. The scale used in Alvord is as follows: 4-consistently exceeds expectations, 3-meets expectations, 2-progressing towards expectations, 1-minimal progress towards expectations and X-not assessed at this time. Marks of 3 & 4 signify that the student is demonstrating grade level achievement of the standards during that reporting window.  Marks of 2 & 1 mean that the student has not met the grade level expectations.

    Q. What time is dismissal on minimum days?

    A. Our dismissal time for 1st through 5th grades on Early release/minimum days is at 1:45 pm. TK/K dismiss at the same time, 1:05 pm.

    A. This is dependent on your child’s needs, grade level and staff availability. Please contact your child’s teacher for more details.
