Feature Article
What is a Feature Article?A feature article is a form of informational writing, similar to an article in a newspaper or magazine. Feature articles are organized, well elaborated, and engaging pieces of writing, forged out of a writer’s interests and extensive research. The writer should be an expert and have a particular interest in the topic chosen. Students will research topics in order to gain a greater knowledge base, further their interest, and prepare them for writing. Multiple subtopics will be developed based on this research. These subtopics will become the heart and soul of the feature article. The final product will be overtly informative and will include diagrams, charts, illustrations, side bars, glossaries, graphs, statistics, pictures, or other visuals. The feature article will be interesting, easy to read, and pleasing to the eye.
