    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last week was odd to say the least with the snow day, half day, and virtual day! The class worked so well through it all :)

    Dates:

    2/15-2/19 - February Break

    Curriculum:

Reading / Writing - The class finished their literary essay. I was very impressed by their work and their attention to detail. Using text evidence and writing a clear, organized essay is essential and the class did very well on it! You can ask them to read their essays to you :)

Math - The class worked so hard on multiplication and multi-step word problems! Students did their best on Thursday's test, and we will continue to weave multi-step word problems into our lessons since there are still some class-wide misconceptions. (My AM class will get their test back when they return since they were at school when we went virtual.)

When we return the class will learn conversion with liters and milliliters and how to find the area of rectilinear shapes (think finding the square footage of a house.)

Social Studies - The class learned more about Jim Crow laws and the injustices surrounding them. They also did independent research on one of the following topics :
    History of Jazz
    Harlem Renaissance
    Tuskegee Airmen

    Ask them about their topic!

When we return, the class will learn about school integration.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy the break :)

    Thanks!

    Sean
