High School Challenge Curriculum
Gifted intervention services at Washington High School are designed in multiple layers. All students have an opportunity to tailor their educational experience through a variety of elective and core course options offered as part of the general education curriculum. Additionally, students have the option to participate in Advanced Placement (AP) courses if they meet the requirements outlined by Washington High School. The final layer is considered supportive intervention services offered to eligible students on a resource basis.
High School Challenge Structure
Services offered include, but are not limited to, post-secondary transition readiness and planning, self-advocacy, mentoring, test-taking strategies, personal goal setting and consult support services. Instructors work directly with students and act as a liaison to district staff and parents as needed. As a result of offering differentiated curriculum in conjunction with personalized support, gifted students will have the opportunity to achieve district goals at the level commensurate with their talent.
Through these services, it is our goal that students will be challenged to apply their knowledge and skills in complex and advanced ways to continue to develop as life-long learners and productive members of society.
