School Messenger Instant Parent Contact


In our efforts to improve district communications, the School District of Washington has implemented School Messenger - a telephone broadcast system that will enable district personnel to notify parents by phone within minutes of an emergency. This system will also be used to communicate general announcements and reminders.

When used, the system will call all phone numbers in our selected parent contact lists and will deliver a recorded message from a district administrator. The system will deliver the message to both live answer and answering machines. No answers (phones ringing over 40 seconds) and busy signals will be automatically retried twice in 15-minute intervals after the initial call.

Please note the following:

1. This requires NO registration by parents on the School Messenger website. Contact information is automatically pulled from our Lumen Student Information System and synced daily.

2. All contact information is strictly secure and confidential, and is only used for the purposes described herein.

Here is some specific information you should know:

Caller ID: The Caller ID will display (636) 231-2000.

Live Answers: There is a short pause at the beginning of the message, usually a few seconds. Answer your phone as you normally would; "hello" and hold for the message to begin. Multiple "hellos" will delay the message. Inform all family members who may answer your phone of this process.

Voice Mail: The system will detect that your voice mail has answered and will play the recording to your voice mail. The phone will ring for up to 40 seconds. Make sure that your voice mail answers after four rings or you may miss the message.

Message Repeat: At the end of the message, you will be prompted to 'press any key' to hear the message again. This is very helpful when a child answers the phone and hands it to the parent, who can then 'repeat' the message in its entirety.

Updating Contact Information


Updating contact information can be done by calling your school office or accessing the Lumen Student Information System Parent Portal. Please make every effort to provide us with current and accurate contact information. This will enure that you do not miss important information from our district.
