Board of Education Vice President Kelly Brinkmann Achieves Advanced Certification
Kelly Brinkmann, School District of Washington Board of Education Vice President, has been recognized for achieving Advanced Certification in the Missouri School Boards’ Association Certified Board Member program.
The program established by MSBA recognizes local school board members for pursuing additional learning opportunities beyond the legally required training.
All newly elected school board members must complete a basic 18.5-hour Essential Training required by state law. Those members achieving Advanced Certification must complete required annual refresher training, complete an additional 12 hours of elective training, read two books related to school board service, attend at least two MSBA regional or statewide events and write a brief reflection paper relating their study to their board service.
The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards ensure all students succeed.
Fellow Board of Education members Kevin Blackburn and John Freitag also have certifications through MSBA. Blackburn has Advanced and Master Certification. Freitag has Advanced, Master and Distinguished Certification.
The Board of Education are recipients of the 2024 Governance Team Award. This recognition is based on the outstanding commitment of the school board and superintendent to ongoing professional development, regional and statewide leadership, and active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools. MSBA will formally recognize districts who achieved the Governance Award at the MSBA Summer Summit.
