Washington High School hosted the Iron Jay Girls Wrestling Tournament on Friday, January 20.
Washington claimed the team title with 229 points.
Lafayette finished second with 178 points followed by Eureka (135), Pattonville (105), Francis Howell (96), Troy (95), Rockwood Summit (67), Francis Howell North (60), Oakville (50), Festus (36), Fox (32), Pacific (31), Highland (26), Hazelwood Central (18) and Hazelwood West (18).
The Lady Jays crowned five individual champions.
Nina Zimmermann (38-5) won the 105-pound weight class with a 5-0 record, winning all five matches by pin.
Ava Griffey (33-6) won the 120-pound weight class with a 3-0 record, registering two pins and a major decision.
Kendra Bliss (38-3) won the 125-pound weight class with a 3-0 record, winning all three matches by pin.
Annelise Obermark (35-6) won the 135-pound weight class with a 4-0 record, including three pins and a major decision. Obermark's victory in the finals gave her 100 career wins.
Maggie Ortmann (33-12) won the 155-pound weight class with a 3-0 record, winning all three matches by pin.
Julia Donnelly (27-3) placed second at 110 pounds with a 2-1 record, falling in overtime to Lafayette’s Hannah Henderson in the finals. Donnelly became the program’s all-time leader in wins with 121.
Brianna James (24-16) placed second at 140 pounds with a 1-1 record, falling to Summit’s Madeline Haynes in the finals.
Kristin Sprung (23-17) placed third at 145 pounds with a 4-1 record.
Loren Thurmon (31-9) placed third at 170 pounds with a 3-1 record.
Lindsey Mueller (24-18) placed fourth at 100 pounds with a 2-3 record.
Stella Secor (30-13) placed fifth at 130 pounds with a 2-2 record.
CJ Trevino placed sixth at 190 pounds. Keira Soos did not place at 115 pounds.
