The Washington High School volleyball program had their 2020 home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Playing against Pacific, the varsity Lady Jays won their match, 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16.
The WHS junior varsity team also defeated Pacific while the freshman squad fell short.
Lindsay Meyer is Washington’s new varsity coach. She is a 2012 graduate of WHS and previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she also played.
Meyer is being assisted this season by Jennifer Giesike, Melissa Holtmeyer and Olivia Strode.
Washington’s varsity team members are Ingrid Figas, Abby Redd, Josie Obermark, Emma Duncan, Jackie Oetterer, Maddi Ritter, Morgan Gratza, Jessie Tovo, Sophie Nieder, Josie Collier, Claire Strubberg, Hallie Giesike and Sophie Howell.
Junior varsity team members are Ava Kauffeld, Gracie Meyer, Kelsey Stemmley, Madison Moore, Ella Kroeter, Chloe Holtmeyer, Sydney Struckhoff, Taylor Hoelscher, Mya Wardwell, Emma Briggs and Jora Weaver.
Freshman team members are Caroline Lackman, Emily Chappius, Jillian Huellinghoff, Kylee McCubbin, Meredith Duncan, Abigail Gillat, Sydney Harbath, Lauren Kerpash, Cierra Murrell, Olivia Zastrow, Taylor Steffens and Kiera Pelster.
