Washington High school athletes competed at the MSHSAA Class 4 State Track and Field Championship at Jefferson City High School on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27.
The top eight finishers in each event captured all-state honors.
Washington earned all-state honors in five events.
Leading the way for Washington was Ella Kroeter, who finished in second place in the girls pole vault by clearing 3.19 meters (10-5 ½ feet).
Alyssa Repke notched a fourth-place finish in the girls discus with a toss of 37.63 meters (123-5 feet).
Clyde Hendrix registered a fifth-place finish in the boys javelin with a throw of 52.69 meters (172-10 feet).
Julia Donnelly finished in eighth-place in the girls 3,200-meter run in a time of 11:27.55. Donnelly was an all-state performer in three sports during her senior season, cross country, wrestling and track and field.
Washington’s 3,200-meter girls relay team finished in fifth place in a time of 9:50.92. Running for the Lady Jays were Josie Keiser, Izzy Von Behren, Leah Wheeler and Donnelly.
Also representing Washington at the state track and field meet were:
Izzy Von Behren placed ninth in the girls 400-meter dash in 59.75.
Josie Keiser placed 10th in the girls 800-meter run in 2:23.77.
Abi Gilliatt finished 12th in the girls 400-meter dash in 1:00.32.
Julia Donnelly was 12th in the girls 1,600-meter run in 5:31.15.
Thomas Stahl finished 12th in the boys 300-meter hurdles in 41.27.
Washington’s 1,600-meter girls relay team placed ninth in 4:11.44. Running for the Lady Jays were Bri James, Josie Keiser, Abi Gilliatt and Izzy Von Behren.
Clyde Hendrix qualified for the boys state high jump, but withdrew from the event.
