With Missouri Governor Mike Parson recently lifting statewide COVID-19 restrictions, the School District of Washington has finalized plans for Washington High School seniors.
A number of events will take place June 17-27 to wrap up the school year.
In regards to Prom, the decision has been made to have a modified version for seniors.
Prom will take place on Thursday, June 25, from 7-9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington. Coronation will be held at 8 p.m.
Tickets are limited to seniors and their guest. There is a capacity of 400 ticket sales. Tickets will be first come, first served. If more than 400 tickets are sold, a waiting list will be started.
While tuxedos and formal dresses are considered appropriate attire for Prom, given the changing scenarios, it is appropriate to modify the dress code slightly. In addition to a tux and formal dress, other options would be a dress shirt and pants and/or a dress.
“We do not want to create more stress on families trying to rent a tux or buy a dress if they have not already purchased these items,” said Washington High School Principal Dr. Kelle McCallum. “
Tickets for Prom will be $20 per person. Appetizers will be served, but a formal meal will not be included.
“We are discussing if dancing will happen at the event,” McCallum said. “We cannot guarantee social distancing guidelines if dancing is involved. We ask that seniors and their families consider that fact before deciding if their senior will attend Prom.”
Tickets may be purchased on Wednesday, June 17, on a first come, first served basis. See the information below.

For those unable to attend Graduation, it will be available to watch online via a live stream. The link to the live stream will be made available on the school district’s website and social media pages on the days leading up to Graduation.
Seating will be available in the home and visitor bleachers, the back of the field behind the graduates, and the sidewalk surrounding the field.
