Washington High School had 22 orchestra members participate in the District Solo/Ensemble Festival at East Central College on Friday, March 10.
The students prepared for the performances since the fall.
"Their performances are something to be celebrated. In addition to their outstanding playing, these 22 students represented themselves, our district, and the orchestra program beautifully,” said WHS Orchestra instructor Meghan Brueggemann. “They were encouraging, kind, responsible, and celebratory of each other's performances, as well as performers from other districts.
“Per our festival manager, ‘The judge commented on how cool it was that they all supported each other and watched/listened without being told to.’”
All of Washington’s 17 entries received either "Exemplary" or "Outstanding" ratings, which are listed below. The students receiving "Exemplary" ratings move on to the State level on April 27 in Columbia.
