The Kiwanis Club of Union officially transferred Washington High School Key Club sponsorship to the Kiwanis Club of Washington on Monday, Oct. 15.
Union Kiwanis also donated $500 to Washington Kiwanis, which will be used for student programs such as the Key Club.
WHS Key Club President Emily Hahne and Vice President Zoe Godefroid, along with advisers Katie Sandoval and Kelly Wood, met with Washington Kiwanis members to discuss both groups and future projects where they can work together.
Representing the Kiwanis Club of Washington were Dallas Pennock, JoAnn Spreckelmeyer and Teresa Halsted.
WHS Key Club is a service organization falling under the umbrella of the Kiwanis Club. Among the projects they are involved in are an annual Trick or Treat Food Drive that benefits the School District's Backpack Program, a clothing drive for students during the cold winter months, and the Al Matzes Memorial Color Run.
The WHS Key Club also bakes cookies during the holiday season and takes them to local nursing homes and assisted living centers.
Key Leader
Three members of the Washington High School Key Club attended Key Leader, a Leadership Camp at Camp Mihaska in Bourbon. The camp took place Oct. 12-14.
Attending the camp and representing the WHS Key Club were Zoe Godefroid, Jay Sitze and Joette Brinker.
